Foodlife’s suction-dry drying system with integrated UVC

SDS, Suction-Dry Systems 7000+UVC, extend fruit and vegetables shelf life, removing moisture and reducing product damage.

Fresh and processed fruits and vegetables are prone to decay. The processing industry is challenged to minimize moisture content and product damage, in order to prevent the growth of fungi and unwanted microorganisms. Foodlife’s SDS 7000+UVC (suction-dry system), delivers exceptional dryness and optimal condition.

SDS uses air-technology; producing mechanical, dewatering drying. The blown air is warmer than the product, increasing moisture removal via evaporation. This prepares for the following process, where the product is further dried at an even higher temperature. Above the main transport belt a food grade wire-mesh belt keeps products in the drying area and prevents them from being blown out of the SDS. Process speed is product dependent: 1000, 2000 or 3000mu.

All functions are controlled from the central control panel, ensuring optimum settings for each product. The out-feed is equipped with an air knife, which removes excess product from the belt. The air from the suction fan is guided through a box, which extracts moisture and reduces noise. Quick-release latches make cleaning easy. Users have the option to integrate a hygienic stainless-steel platform within the SDS’s frame.

Optimal product handling is ensured, initially by fitting the entry chute with knocking bars that gently dewater and spread the product before it enters the main drying section where moisture is collected and guided away from the machine. A FlowDry section can be installed, on the in-feed side of the machine, providing additional dewatering of the product. As products move through modules of the system, they are repeatedly rearranged for optimal drying. In each module, multiple suction and blowing nozzles - mounted under the wire mesh belt - ensure that the last drops of moisture are removed from the product.

The Foodlife’s SDS is suitable for baby-leaf lettuce, freshly-cut fruit, chopped lettuce and various other vegetables, including sugar snaps, cauliflower and broccoli florets.
