Mitsubishi Corporation Life Sciences, Tokyo, Japan, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, a Japanese multinational active in multiple industries. Mitsubishi Corporation employs 72,000 people worldwide and has an annual turnover of 64 billion US dollars, 25 billion of which is food-related. Mitsubishi’s food ingredients business has a turnover of 1.2 billion dollars a year.

Over the past few years, Mitsubishi Corporation has made major investments in life sciences. Mitsubishi Corporation Life Sciences (MCLS) consists of three divisions, each focusing on a distinct area of research: food tech, yeast extracts and other food specialties, such as sweeteners and texturants.

In 2015, MCLS opened an application laboratory and customer service center in the Dutch city of Amstelveen called MCLS Europe B.V. to serve the EMEA region. This organization’s operational scope includes development, manufacturing, marketing, sales, technical service, and the import and export of food ingredients, including yeast extracts, other savory ingredients, sweeteners like Crystalline Maltitol and hydrocolloids such as carrageenan.
