FOOD2020 prepares the food sector in the Dutch-German border region for the year 2020. FOOD2020 facilitates cross-border cooperation between companies with experts and practical research facilities to stimulate technology transfer and innovation development at companies. The aim is to gradually build a model for a future-proof food industry in the INTERREG VA region.

INTERREG IVA

FOOD2020 builds on the successfully concluded INTERREG IVA project FOOD FUTURE, where over 140 small and medium-sized companies were supported in their innovation process over a period of five years. They have built up contacts with knowledge institutions and were able to develop new products. In FOOD2020, these successful activities are continued and further developed.

EUROPE 2020

The FOOD2020 project explicitly focuses on the European 2020 concept for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The five themes - research and development, climate change and sustainability, social inclusion, education and employment - are translated within FOOD2020 into the needs of the food sector in the German-Dutch border region by investing in building cross-border networks between companies and research institutions and education.
