Tool for achieving best possible, lowest energy greenhouse climate

Optimizing greenhouse climate for the best yield and quality, at the right time, reducing energy use.

Achieving the best possible energy consumption and greenhouse climate is a complex matter. The consumption or generation of power has a direct impact on greenhouse climates and crops, while optimizing this climate for the production of the best yield and quality at the right time directly affects energy consumption. Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture supports the sector and individual companies with innovations and expert advice.

Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture develops innovative, sustainable production and greenhouse concepts and innovative technologies for controlling greenhouse climate and crop growth as well as saving, generating and reclaiming energy.

Each change in greenhouse climate, whether it be light, temperature or humidity, has an effect on the cultivation and quality of the product. This is why Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture applies computer models to calculate the effects of new production concepts and innovations. They study the impact of changes on the greenhouse equipment as well as the effect of the energy supply and climate control on the greenhouse climate and energy consumption. This allows us to adapt production concepts and innovations accordingly whenever required.

Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture also studies these innovations in practice in close cooperation with greenhouse horticulture companies and the supply industry. As a result they provide a major contribution to sustainable greenhouse horticulture with a strong international competitive position.
