Vartdal Plastindustri AS is a family owned Norwegian company with its head office located in Vartdal, at the west coast of Norway. The company was founded in 1961 by Jan Vartdal. It was the world’s first manufacturer of fresh fish packaging made out of EPS. Since then the company has grown due to innovation and product development, and today Vartdal is one of Norway’s largest manufacturers when it comes to fresh fish packaging, technical packaging and building insulation.

With several production facilities along the coast of Norway, Vartdal produces close to their customers, reducing lead time, transport cost and pollution. Product innovations are often done in close collaboration with Vartdal Plast’s customers.

Since 2009 Vartdal has been working together with Nofima, one of the largest institutes for applied research in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture and food research in Europe.Together they have developed solutions that can help overcome the future challenges of food safety and waste.
